Significant Professional or Academic Accomplishments:
Patrick Hyppolite was born in Neptune, New Jersey and raised
in Brooklyn and Queens, New York. He graduated from Martin
Van Buren High School in Queens Village, New York in 2001.
After completing high school, he continued his education at
State University of New York (SUNY), College of Old Westbury.
There he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological
Sciences, with a minor in Psychology. During his time at SUNY
Old Westbury, he received several honors including Academic
Achievement in Research Awards (2004, 2005), a Sigma Xi (Scientific
Research Society) Induction and Outstanding Achievement Award
, Collegiate All-American Scholar Awards (2004, 2005) and
Outstanding Involvement in Service Learning Awards (2004,
2005). In 2004, he was selected to complete a Post-Baccalaureate
Intramural Research Training Award Program for the National
Institute of Health in Baltimore, MD. In addition to these
outstanding achievements, Patrick had the honor of having
his work, “Initial synthesis and characterization of
an alpha 7 nicotinic receptor cellular membrane affinity chromatography
column: Effect of Receptor Subtype and Cell Type”, published
in the American Chemistry Journal.
Following the accomplishment of attaining his undergraduate
degree, Patrick decided to pursue his dream of becoming a
Doctor. He is now a second year medical student attending
New York College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM) and plans
to receive his Doctoral degree in 2014. He is an active member
of several organizations including the Student National Medical
Association, Student Osteopathic Medical Association, Scientific
Research Society and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.
In his free time, Patrick enjoys weight-lifting, reading,
and watching movies. In the future, Patrick plans to devote
his Medical career to helping underserved populations and
ending Health disparities.
