Significant Professional or Academic Accomplishments:
Ahsan Ali was a member of CSTEP at Mohawk Valley Community
College from 2009-2011. Prior to coming to MVCC, Ahsan was
an active member of the MVCC STEP program. While at MVCC,
he worked as a STEP mentor and tutor, as a peer tutor in the
campus’ Learning Center, as an orientation leader, and
served as the NY State Northern District Vice President for
the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Ahsan presented a research
project at the 2011 CSTEP Student Conference, and presented
a workshop at the 2011 STEP Student Conference. Ahsan was
also active in the local Muslim community as a youth religious
instructor and regular volunteer at the Muslim Community Association
of Mohawk Valley. During the summer of 2010, Ahsan was accepted
into the Summer Medical Dental Educational Program (AMA SMDEP)
at Case Western Reserve University’s School of Medicine
and Dental Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating from
MVCC in May 2011 with an Associate’s in Science degree
in Liberal Arts & Sciences: Mathematics & Science,
he transferred to Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan
on a full scholarship to continue his studies as a pre-med
major. Ahsan plans to go to medical school after receiving
his bachelor’s degree in his pursuit of becoming a General
Practitioner.
