CSTEP student presented
a two part “Science of Light” Workshop
Summer 2012
CSTEP student Chris Sleys presented a two part “Science
of Light” workshop with STEP students this past summer.
MVCC STEP students worked with circuitry to construct their
own “TV-B-Gone” remote, a device for turning off
most televisions on the market today. Additionally students
received instruction on safety procedures for working with
a soldering iron. Sixteen
STEP students learned about the workings of the standard model
TV-B-Gone, which consists of an infra-red LED, two CR2032
cells and an integrated circuit containing the television
power code database. All students enjoyed the day and were
especially excited to use their remotes on unsuspecting family
and friends.
