Making Strides against Breast Cancer

Utica, New York, October 22, 2012

The annual Cancer Society’s Making Strides against Breast Cancer Walk was held in Utica on Sunday, October 22 2012, with Mohawk Valley Community College being very well represented. Several CSTEP students decided to go one step beyond walking and coordinated an educational outreach event. Nyeshia Hicks, Olga Lukashevich and Valerie Rivera partnered together and planned the post walk “Beat Breast Cancer” expo. The students raised funds, presented current breast cancer information and distributed educational materials to MVCC dorm students and staff. The response to the event was inspiring, and spurred students to consider making this an annual event.
