About this Event: Black Family Technology
Awareness Day at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute wa designed
to interest area young people and their families in pursuing
occupations in the fields of science, technology, engineering,
mathematics (STEM) fields, and the arts.
On Saturday, February 4, 2012, Rensselaer hosted the Black
Family Technology Awareness Day event. The theme for the event
was, “Tetherless Training for Tomorrow’s Technologies:
Heroes, Role Models, and Mentors,” which pays homage
to our past, present, and future leaders in science-related
fields.
Black Family Technology Awareness Day is a great opportunity
for young people and their families to get a taste of the
excitement and possibilities of careers in science, technology,
and engineering fields. There were workshops led by Rensselaer
professors, students, alumni and community organizations.
The event was free and open to the public.
Participants received a light breakfast and lunch, and participants
under the age of 18 will had an opportunity to win a new computer
and other door prizes/give-a-ways during the closing ceremonies...
